Your toilet is clogged, but do not panic! We can definitely help you unclog a toilet. The plunger is your best friend when flushing doesn’t do the trick. If you don’t know how to unclog a toilet with a plunger, then this complete guide will teach you everything you need to know.
The first step is to prevent any further disaster. Look under your toilet tank for a small valve. These valves are typically silver and easily accessible. This is your water valve. Turn this valve to prevent overflowing while unclogging the toilet.
Fit the rubber end of the plunger directly over the drain hole of the toilet. Water should cover a little over half of the rubber. If there is no water, then carefully add enough to cover at least the rim of the plunger. When positioning the plunger, attempt to approach the drain hole at an angle through the water before adjusting to an upright position. This ensures maximum plunging force since the cup of the plunger catches more water than air.
Grip the plunger handle in both hands and firmly push directly down onto the drainage hole without breaking the seal. Pull back up while maintaining this seal to create suction. Repeat the series of plunging motions as needed until the bowl empties by itself. The plunging motion pushes and pulls water through the drain to loosen clogs. if the force seems to come from the side of the cup, then readjust to ensure a proper seal.
Turn the water valve back on and attempt a flush. If there is no substantial change then have patience and readjust your form.
And that’s really all that you need to know to unclog your toilet.
